The Latest from Radio Free Cruze

Hey, everyone!

As I'm sure you've noticed, it has been a while since the last episode of the RADIO FREE CRUZE Podcast.

I've had to put the podcast on temporary hold this summer, which was a difficult decision, but became necessary due to some changes and things happening this year.

The show is definitely not going away, it's just on a temporary break.

I'm planning to have the podcast return this fall, hopefully before this month is over.

In the meantime, we've been working very hard on developing our online radio station, and we're really proud of some the advancements we've made this summer.

The station now launches with just ONE CLICK from right here on the website.  It's no longer necessary to go through Live 365 and launch their player (which you can still do, but this is now a lot simpler.)  By hitting THIS LINK, the station will launch in Windows Media Player, or iTunes, or whatevery you have designated on your computer as your default audio player.

We should also be listed in the iTunes Radio tab very soon, and we're excited about the growth that being listed there should bring for the station.  And watch this space for details on how you will soon be able to receive RADIO FREE CRUZE ONLINE on your iPhone!

  Well, I couldn't have been more bummed about the passing of George Carlin.  It's funny, with all the hip new comedians of the last 10 years or so, it's been easy to just think of George as an "elder statesman" of comedy.  And he was that, but he was so much more...he was one of the sharpest and most eloquent critics of our society, our government, and our way of life that has lived in the 20th century.  It's true that he got a little cratchety as he got older, but somehow it just seemed to suit him  George, you will be dearly missed.  I pay a little tribute to George Carlin on this episode of Radio Free Cruze.

    Also on this episode...the story of the stranded hiker who was rescued by an innovative use of HER SPORTS BRA!!  Great story...  ...and I also wonder aloud, "What the hell is going on with M. Night Shyamalan?  It's a fair, question, since I saw the incredible piece of crap that is THE HAPPENING at the movies last weekend.  Yeessh....

  So the tabloids are all competing with each other to give as much information as they can, in as much detail as they can pay someone to speculate, reveal, or just make up, about the kinky sex life of Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer.  And I'm wondering...why do we care?  We obviously do, but WHY?

  So I explore that question a little bit on show # 112, as well as playing some really awesome music!  The show is kind of "all over the place" musically this week, and I'm not sure why, other than the fact that there were just a lot of different things that seemed to resonate with me over the last week.  So I hope you enjoy it, and maybe next week's show will be a little more musically cohesive...

  When was the last time you heard anyone use the term "fatso?"  That's hilarious....and pretty un-PC, too, I think!  Nevertheless, any of us with an extra pound or two are contributing to GLOBAL WARMING, according to a new article...

  One of the songs in this episode, PRAY by ANEMO, tells a pretty heavy story.  It's based on a real-life occurance, where a BBC Reporter was imbedded in a military group in the Middle East, and the group was fired on by an American Plane!!  Be sure to pay attention to the lyrics when you hear the show, and check out the story here...   So...welcome to the first show of our little "Podcast Experiment!"  If all goes as planned, we'll do one "Normal Show" (45-50 minutes) each week, and a couple of shorter, "Daily Shows."  I don't know how all this will work, as it's just a work in progress, but I like today's shorter, cool-music show.

  The basic idea is to bring you more music more often, and maybe stretch the more "prepared" parts of the show over several episodes, instead of having it crammed into each one.  I don't know if you guys will like this better, or not as well.  Please comment in the show notes so I will have some indication of how the "experiment" is going! 

  So, I am obsessed with sinkholes.  I have dreams where they swallow up the whole planet.  Strangely, I'm not scared of them...I just think they're really amazing.  I really need to get a life!

  A wise frog named Kermit once told us that it was "...not easy being green."  He was right, of course.  But lately I'm beginning to feel that it's not so great being a target of "green marketing," either.  I just can't get over feeling creepy about some of these companies that are trying to convince me to buy their products or services because they now have a 'green initiatives."  I really hate "initiatives" anyway...
